Anything from Cocaine to crack to prescription pain pills. Oxycontin on the street can run you 80 dollars a pill. Most abusers will eat very little so the medicine doesn’t get absorbed in the food.

Considering the large amount of money being spent, the most probable answer would be cocaine, although heroin is also a possibility. Drug addicts often neglect their health, and their eating habits are included in this. That would account for the skinny appearance. Although coke and meth users often have the skeletal look, it is also common among heroin users. There is the possibility that the individual is poly-addicted, maybe using “speedballs”, a dangerous combination of coke, and heroin. Regardless of the substance(s) being used, quite simply, the individual suffers from addiction. Withdrawl could require hospitalization, depending upon the substance(s), and quantities being used. Chemical dependency counseling would be recommended, as would participation in a a recovery program, such as Narcotic Anonymous. An internet search for NA could put you in touch with a local group, and the individuals who may be able to help you.

Could be anything? Most of the time, addicts stop eating and spend more money on their drugs. There are lots of drugs and even combinations of drugs that he could be taking. Many of them cause loss of appetite or the person just has no interest in anything besides a constant fix.

sounds like heroin to me. you could spend a lot more than that on rock or powder cocaine.500 worth of meth and you wouldn’t even see him,he’d be just a blur.(or dead)Oxycontin is a possibility,or even hydrocodone,but his liver will be damaged by the buffer.

Doctors are supposed to take people off their anti anxiety or antidepressant medications very gradually to lessen the chance of withdrawal. The patient should be closely be monitored by his or her health care provider while on the meds, when weaning off them, and when totally off them. A doctor is not doing his or her job if this monitoring is discontinued too soon.

If the health care provider sees the patient enough, he or she would know that the patient is having withdrawal problems, and should do something to remedy that situation. Rehab might be indicated for some patients, and the doctor should see that they get that.

Many people in detox and rehabs are in for taking anti anxiety meds such as Xanax or Valium – some even for pain pills. Many of those abused those substances rather than taking them as prescribed, but some are just as bad off if they took them as prescribed. You have made an excellent point and I hope it is read by people in the mental health field.

Well that depends on their doctor. Most likely if they are on anti-depressants then they must be under doctors care and the doctor should klnow whats best for the patient!!! If the person feels they need treatment then they would have to admitt themselves to getting help.

could be gambling. check for other signs such as hanging out with a new group of friends or other signs of physical detioration, not just weight loss. small OR dilated pupils. the shakes. excessive fidgetting. whatever it is they need help fast.
