I have a mental illness I don’t disclose to anyone. When I have worked and at the employment agency I went to, I am worried they thought I had an addiction. I had poor concentration, poor memory, and poor social skills but I did ok. Would it be that noticeable? I am very anti drug and always have been. Would you think I was on drugs?

I’m looking for more sources about alcohol and drug addiction because I’m finishing my homework. I really love the topic and I really want to present a nice report. I’m not doing this just for the grade but I’m also doing this as a way of spreading awareness so that my classmates will not turn out to be alcoholics and drug addicts.

Is a drug addiction a sickness or stupidity? If you were very close to someone that wanted so bad to get off drugs but couldn’t, Will you be wrong and stupid for being there for them regardless?

Government money for treatment is harder to come by. The Bush administration’s $12.7 billon drug-control budget request for 2007 earmarks 65% for interdiction and law enforcement and barely 35% for treatment and prevention. A National Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse report found that, of the $277 that each American paid on average in state taxes to deal with substance abuse and addiction in 1998, only $10 went toward treatment and prevention.

My roommate Kit is addicted to a drug called Demerol. I think it’s a pain killer that she uses to maximize the effects brought by other sedatives. Demerol makes her drowsy, lightheaded, lethargic and sweaty. Lately, she told me that she’s having trouble with her stomach too. Now that she’s finally experiencing its side effects, Kit asked me to look for a possible treatment. She told me that she wants to quit taking Demerol and that she wants to change. Please help us. Thank you.
