I want to find drug rehabs because I want to know what it takes to become a counselor in one. I have known a few friends who have gotten themselves addicted to various kinds of drugs and I want to help people like them. I’m currently studying psychology and I want to ask drug rehabs in this area about their requirements before one becomes a counselor.

I am not asking as I have a drug problem, I am wondering that if a person misuses drugs on a daily basis for over a decade, will the body heal itself when use stops? I do not mean Hep viruses or Aids etc. I mean if a person is without health complaints but has detoxed and is clean. Can the body suddenly pack in years after the person has detoxed due to the kidneys being over worked in the past or the liver?

Ok, I have an addiction to cocaine for a few years, I even went to rehab and meetings in the past and sobered up from cocaine BUT i remained to drink alchol. why is it that when you drink you need to have that drug? Why does the body miss it? I just don’t understand why you can be clean for years you wantto start to do it again? What do you think?

I am taking a class on Social Problems and we have to do a project on a certain social problem in our society. The topic I chose is drug addiction. I see this as a pretty bad social problem in the united states. I am trying to get some ideas on what causes drug addiction. What makes people want to try drugs. I know a lot of people try drugs out of curiousity or boredom or maybe stress. I don’t know because I do not use drugs. Anyways, any ideas or suggestions or anything please feel free.

I am supposed to complete this task by 25th June. I have done research on this.
Problem observed:
‘There is an increasing trend of smoking, drug abuse and alcohol abuse among young people in our society today,’
I need to find actual figures to support this statement. e.g charts and figures.
I have tried to find the increasing trend but the trend seems to be decreasing at least that’s what most sites state. Anyone can help me? I need an increase in smoking, drug abuse and alcohol abuse over theese few years. Must be updated. 2005, 2006 or 2007 surveys, polls or research.
i know there is a decreasing trend!!! But I ned evidence for an increasing trend….Oh and it can be from 2000-2007.
help me find either increasing or decreasing and i need figures and charts. MUST be of young people today.

First off, a certain percentage of the population will always abuse some sort of drug legal or illegal. The controlled prescription drugs, (Vicodin, Oxycontin, Xanax, Valium etc), if these drugs were available at the local Wallgreens but without a prescription, would we then have a nation of drug addicts? It seems to me that, yes, initially we would see an increase in problems, but because of the now OTC status of these drugs, we would not see the major criminal aspects involved with obtaining the illegal variety, because people would now have a steady supply, and not need to go on the streets. Now obviously this is similar to just legalizing all curentlly illegal drugs,(cocaine, METH etc.), but these drugs have no acceptable medical value,and are very dangerous, so they shouldn’t be legalized. But the medications that DO have medical value, could perhaps be available OTC, and maybe this would cut down on the abuse of the illegal variety. What do you think?
