Rehabs, NA and AA will all teach you that alcohol is a drug, just like heroin and cocaine. I am a heroin and cocaine addict who also spent 6 months in rehab. Now, I've been clean from hard drugs for 3 months, but on occasion, I have gone out drinking. I personally enjoy drinking and do not have constant cravings or triggers for alcohol. Luckily, I've been able to drink without moving on back into the harder drugs. Most addicts, from what rehab & NA taught me, are not so lucky. Alcohol could very well lead to your husband's desire to do cocaine, so I'd advise you not to introduce alcohol back into his life when he's fresh out of rehab. Let him make those choices for himself. I'm sure you wouldn't want a possible relapse to be on your shoulders....

Hi look in the short term after his release I would refrain from having any alcohol in the house as due to his addiction he will probably want to use this as a crutch 6 mnths rehab is not very long these days.
Then if he gets drunk would then feel the need for cocaine from my experiences in the patients that pass thru my hospital..
He really needs support from you not condemnation to assist him,.of course he has to want too also..good luck ?
