Question about religion and leaving drug addiction?
Ok, so ive been smoking weed for quite a few years now. I ive been smoking every day for about a year now and before that it was often but not every day. Ok so, i got a ticket for a traffic violation and im doing community service at a church. I myself am atheist...For a while now ive been telling myself that i need to stop smoking. And mabey have done it for 2 days max and feel back into doing it. So i wanted opinions if i should ask the guy that im going to be working there with if he could give me some knowledge on how i can mabey start believing in this religion to help me stop smoking.the thing is that i am not really open to finding a religion because i have not had one for a years. But willing to try and see how it goes.Any opinions are welcome. thankx for reading.There are quite of few people on here that gave me some great advise. Ill see where my road takes me. thanks all.

NPR ran a piece this morning detailing a religious group that is convinced the United States dominated by what it calls the " seven mountains of culture" of demonic influence. The " mountains" are arts and entertainment business family government media religion and education. They were the ones behind Rick Perry's prayer event in Houston. This group is so nuts, I can't help but wonder if there is a similarity between the neurological activity involved in this degree of brainwashing and drug addiction. If God is all-powerful, then how come I keep praying for Him to take the drug addiction away from me?
First of all how this all started was because I was struggling all my life with ADHD in school been names called like stupid, retarded, handicapped, or just f cked in the head and I HATE having ADHD so much and want it to go away by God And then I am now addicted and have abused every one of the ADHD medications and my parents have to hide them and they raise they voices at all everytime I find them and do abuse them. So, if I get down on my knees, and beg again and again like I always did for God to heal my drug addiction and the abuse of all the medications tonight, then the addiction should go away, right? I'm hoping so sense He's all powerful

Have you ever lost someone close to you to a drug addiction?
Friends or family?So tragic, such a loss, so unnecessary, such a waste.
